Summary

We are currently recruiting for a Deckhand to join our team in Cape Town, South Africa. Working hours vary and you must be flexible to operational requirements. Please note that this is a full-time, permanent position.

What you will be doing:

Cleaning and preparing boat surfaces that includes but not limited to GRP, stainless steel and cushions according to the guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures of THL
Assist with the moving of yachts
Assist with the loading of yachts when the relevant freighter arrives
Securing yachts, which entails that batteries are switched off, hatches and doors locked, equipment removed of the boat and moorings lines adequately secured by end of each day
Highlighting cosmetic and functional faults found on boats to the Commissioning Agent
Cleaning, washing and polishing boat surfaces in preparation for protection
Applying protective coatings and plastic covering on applicable yacht surfaces
Log all activity and surfaces attended to accurately on the checksheets
Keep work spaces neat and tidy

Able and willing to move around yachts/dock
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Available to work on weekends as required
Ability to maintain a calm, positive attitude during periods of high activity
Must be a self-starter and capable of working unsupervised
