Software Engineer, Advertising Technology
Expedia Media Solutions seeks a talented and motivated Software Engineer, Advertising Technology. In this role, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of our next-generation advertising marketplace. Your technical skills and collaborative mindset will help deliver impactful solutions for advertisers and travelers worldwide.
As a global leader in travel industry advertising, Expedia Media Solutions connects advertisers with millions of travelers. As a Software Engineer, you will play an important role in building and maintaining high-performance systems that support Expedia Group’s expanding advertising network. Your focus will be on delivering innovative solutions, ensuring system reliability, and supporting a culture of collaboration within the engineering team.
Develop and Maintain: Create, optimize, and maintain scalable, high-performance systems that support ad delivery across Expedia Group’s ad network.
Collaborate Across Teams: Partner with product managers, data scientists, and fellow engineers to deliver solutions that align with business goals and improve advertiser outcomes.
Optimize Performance: Continuously assess and fine-tune services to enhance speed, scalability, and resilience of services.
Learn and Grow: Stay up-to-date on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance your skill set and contribute to platform improvements.
Contribute to Team Success: Support a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement by sharing knowledge and collaborating with peers.
Technical Skills: 4+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining scalable systems.
AdTech Knowledge: Familiarity with advertising technologies such as real-time bidding and programmatic advertising is a nice-to-have but not required.
Proficiency in Tools: Expert in Kotlin and Java with hands-on experience in gRPC microservices, Apache Flink, Kafka and AWS.
Analytical Approach: Experience working with data-driven systems, including analytics or machine learning, is a plus.
Problem-Solving: Ability to tackle technical challenges and contribute to innovative solutions.
Clear Communication: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

The total cash range for this position in Chicago is $128,000.00 to $179,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $205,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
