PRIMARY PURPOSE

As Head Guide, you will be responsible for ensuring outstanding guest experiences while mentoring a team of expert guides. This role demands a blend of leadership, hospitality, and deep bush knowledge to uphold the Wilderness standard of excellence.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead by example and uphold the highest Wilderness standards.
• Mentor and motivate the guiding team to maintain excellence in service.
• Conduct daily briefings and manage guide schedules and allocations.
• Deliver exceptional, safe, and educational guided excursions.
• Personalize experiences based on guest preferences and needs.
• Host guests during meals and leisure time to enhance the overall experience.
• Ensure smooth coordination of activities, transfers, and airstrip operations.
• Enforce strict safety protocols for all activities and equipment.
• Conduct daily checks of vehicles, gear, and guest safety systems.
• Ensure compliance with all company policies and Namibian regulations.
• Oversee maintenance and readiness of all guiding equipment and vehicles.
• Manage storerooms, First Aid kits, radios, rifles, and relevant gear.
• Report repairs, replacements, and operational issues promptly.

• Minimum 4 years guiding experience (1+ year with Wilderness preferred)
• Valid PDP, First Aid Level 1, and a clean Driver’s License
• Completion of at least 5 NATH or Wilderness Intermediate guiding courses
• Excellent knowledge of Namibian flora, fauna, and heritage
• Strong communication skills in English (additional languages are a bonus)
• Natural leadership, professionalism, and a genuine love for sharing the wilderness
