Job Description

The Banquet House Attendant is passionate about service and thrives in a fast paced, changing environment. With a keen eye for detail, the Banquet House Attendant ensures the room is set perfectly for each function to exceed guest’s expectations. The colleague is adaptable and assists clients with all last-minute changes.

Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
Performs opening and closing procedures and side-work duties.
Is familiar with fire extinguishers, locations and know how to use them.
Ensures overall guest satisfaction. Ensures line by line delivery of Banquet Event Order requirements for setup.
Follows service essentials at all times.
Handles all guest, event planners and manager inquiries knowledgeably and proficiently.
Is aware of all business within hotel on a daily basis and able to guide guests accordingly or obtain effective and prompt assistance.
Consistently offers professional, engaging and friendly service according to Raffles standards of service.
Sets up rooms & function areas in the hotel, sets up tables, chairs, dance floors, staging, linens and assists with tabletop setup as directed.
Is presentable at all times and respect the Raffles grooming policies.
Maintains standards of hygiene for food handling and presentation.
Communicates clients’ requests to the management team in a timely manner.
Maintains organization and cleanliness of banquet spaces and storage.
Ensures that all banquet equipment is organized and in good condition.
Partners with Banquet Team and AV vendors to ensure seamless delivery and set-up.
Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience:

High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
Excellent reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
Similar experience at a luxury hotel with available references.
Physical Requirements:

Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
Must be available to work nights, weekends and holidays if required.
Medium work - Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and /or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
Ability to stand for the entire shift.
Must be able to maneuver throughout the banquet areas while carrying full trays of food & beverages.
Must be able to move, lift and transfer necessary banquet equipment throughout the building as instructed by manager.
General Requirements:

Must be able to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with all levels of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
Must be highly articulate and avoids slang and excessive use of phrase-fragments
Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Raffles Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper, clean and well fitted uniforms.
Complies with Raffles Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
Maximizes efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
Maintains consistent and complete communication amongst team and hotel associates.
Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
Must be able to understand and apply complex information, data, etc. from various sources to meet appropriate objectives.
Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.
Must be able to show initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs.
Performs other duties as requested by management.
Maintains a friendly and warm demeanor at all times.
