About Camp New Fork
Camp New Fork is a youth summer camp located in the beautiful mountains near Cora, Wyoming.
The camp provides outdoor adventure, skill-building, and personal growth opportunities for
campers each season. Our mission is to create a safe, fun, and inspiring environment where
young people can connect with nature, grow confidence and character, and develop lifelong
friendships.
Position Overview
Camp Counselors are the heart of the Camp New Fork experience. They serve as positive role
models, mentors, and leaders for campers throughout each session. Counselors live with and
supervise campers, lead activities, and ensure a safe, supportive, and fun environment. This
position requires enthusiasm, patience, responsibility, and a genuine passion for working with
youth in the outdoors.
Key Responsibilities
● Supervise and mentor a group of campers throughout the day and overnight in cabins.
● Lead and assist with camp activities, such as hiking, crafts, waterfront, games, and
campfires.
● Foster a positive cabin environment built on respect, inclusion, and teamwork.
● Ensure camper safety and well-being by following camp policies and emergency
procedures.
● Encourage campers to participate, try new activities, and develop confidence and skills.
● Communicate effectively with fellow staff and camp leadership.
● Act as a positive role model, demonstrating kindness, responsibility, and enthusiasm.
Qualifications
● Minimum age: 18 years old.
● Previous experience working with youth is preferred, but not required.
● Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
● Ability to live and work in a close-knit camp community.
● Enthusiasm for the outdoors and willingness to participate in all camp activities.
● Ability to remain calm and positive in challenging situations.
● Must pass a background check.
● Must attend staff training prior to the camp season.
Physical Requirements
● Ability to be active outdoors for extended periods (hiking, games, camp activities).
● Comfortable living in a rustic, outdoor camp environment.
