About Camp New Fork
Camp New Fork is a youth summer camp located in the beautiful mountains near Cora, Wyoming.
The camp provides outdoor adventure, skill-building, and personal growth opportunities for
campers each season. Our mission is to create a safe, fun, and inspiring environment where
young people can connect with nature, grow confidence and character, and develop lifelong
friendships.


Position Overview
The Waterfront Director oversees all aquatic activities at Camp New Fork, including swimming,
canoeing, kayaking, and waterfront safety. This position is responsible for managing the
waterfront area, supervising staff, campers, and user groups, enforcing safety standards, and
ensuring a fun, engaging, and secure environment for all participants. Additionally, as a lead, this
role is expected to support counseling staff by mentoring and encouraging them through day to
day activities (ie camp games and events).
The ideal candidate is a skilled leader with strong aquatic safety knowledge, a passion for youth
development, and the ability to create an enjoyable and safe waterfront experience for everyone.


Key Responsibilities
● Direct and supervise all waterfront programs, including swimming, boating, fishing and
other aquatic activities.
● Ensure all waterfront activities comply with American Red Cross and camp safety
standards.
● Train and supervise lifeguards and waterfront staff.
● Conduct daily equipment inspections and maintain waterfront areas in clean, safe
condition.
● Enforce waterfront rules and emergency procedures at all times.
● Plan and lead swimming lessons and boating instruction as appropriate.
● Manage waterfront equipment inventory (lifejackets, boats, paddles, rescue gear, etc.).
● Lead safety drills and ensure all staff understand water emergency protocols.
● Coordinate with the Camp Director to integrate aquatic activities into the camp schedule.
● Maintain accurate records of swim tests, incidents, and certifications.


Qualifications
● Minimum age: 21 years old.
● Current Lifeguard Certification required (American Red Cross preferred).
● Waterfront Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor, or WSI certification preferred.
● Current First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer certifications required.
● Previous experience supervising aquatic programs, preferably in a camp or youth setting.
● Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
● Ability to instruct, motivate, and ensure the safety of campers and staff.
● Willingness to live and work in a residential camp environment.
● Must pass a background check.
● Must attend staff training prior to the camp season.


Physical Requirements
● Ability to swim proficiently and perform water rescues.
● Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
● Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations.
